What we do?
HEALTHY WAYS is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering people with chronic pain to improve their quality of life, decrease their sense of isolation and take a more active role in their treatment.
We do this by providing support groups, specialized classes, a speaker series on treatment modalities, training and supervision of mental health professionals on chronic pain, a newsletter on chronic pain issues, information and referrals, and community outreach and education
Support groups
HEALTHY WAYS provides a forum for people
handicapped by pain, isolated and alienated by pain, frustrated by lack
of services dealing with the emotional aspect of physical pain, and
demoralized by changes in careers, families, and society.
Different modalities are used in the support group such as: developing
coping skills, decision making models, role-playing, assertiveness
training, guided imagery, meditation, breathing exercises and relaxation
techniques.
Family members, significant others and interested community members are welcome to attend and participate in the support group.
Pain Warrior Support
![]() |
The Pain Warriors program helps to retrain, support, educate and teach coping skills to Warriors and Veterans with chronic pain. Families and significant others are encouraged to attend and participate.
Training
HEALTHY WAYS offers workshops and trainings to health professionals interested in/or working with chronic pain clients and to non professionals interested in learning new ways of coping with pain. This program educates professionals to recognize the signs of chronic pain, learn specific skills and design treatment plans for chronic pain sufferers.
